ILLUMINATED FILMS HEADS TO KIDSCREEN WITH NEW PRE-SCHOOL SERIES

The Illuminated Film Company is heading to the Kidscreen Summit in Miami with their newly developed project Rocket Robbins.

Following the purchase of the rights to the picture book ‘Rocket Says Look Up!’, written by Nathan Bryon and illustrated by Dapo Adeola, last year, Illuminated Films has been in development adapting the book, which has been honoured as a Chicago Public Library 2019 Best of the Best and selected for Scottish Booktrust’s Read, Write, Count 2020 as part of their Book Week Scotland, into an animated pre-school series.

Rocket Robbins has been developed by Illuminated Films in co-production with Zodiak Kids Studios. The 52 x 11-minute series is set to be pitched for the first time at the annual Kidscreen Summit to international buyers and executives of broadcasters and platforms worldwide.

The series follows 7-year-old Rocket Robbins, along with her big brother Jamal, her cat Luna and her friends as they explore their inner city neighbourhood.

Illuminated Films has joined the UK@Kidscreen delegation heading to Miami to present the new series along with their catalogue of other titles and current developments. Producer Iain Harvey comments ‘Kidscreen has become one of the go to markets to attend, providing the top players and international contacts, so we decided this would be the ideal time to show off our new series’.

Rocket Says Look Up! is the first book in a series of three, with the second book, ‘Rocket Says Clean Up!’, being published in the US and UK in July by Penguin Random House. The book has been a hit with children and has been shortlisted for the Foyles Book of the Year and the Sainsbury’s Children’s Book Prize in the UK.
