It is with great sadness that we hear of Eric Carle’s passing. Eric was a wonderful gentle man with an inspiring imagination. Eric Carle’s books have been enjoyed by millions of children and will continue to shine magic into their lives for many future generations.

Illuminated Films had the honour of working with Eric Carle back in the early 90’s, adapting his best-selling books into five short films. It paved the way for Eric Carle’s stories to be shared with generation after generation of children across the world. Eric Carle’s success is evident from the continued popularity of his books and the short films that are enjoyed repeatedly.

Producer Iain Harvey will always be thankful for the opportunity to adapt Eric Carle’s books into animation. Eric was a lovely man with such talent and a vivid and wide imagination. His style and design of books bring simplistic stories to life and has created his iconic look that will be recognised for years to come.

Eric Carle’s singularity of vision, his understanding of colour and the rhythm of his writings all look simple to achieve but his very singular success proves otherwise.
