Following the CITV commission of THE RUBBISH WORLD OF DAVE SPUD, Illuminated Films can confirm the casting roles for the animated series.
As per the director’s (Edward Foster) vision, Johnny Vegas (Benidorm, Early Man, Ideal) is voicing the starring role as 11-year-old Dave Spud.
To accompany Johnny and play his on screen sister Anna, IFC has cast the talented Lisa Hammond (EastEnders, Max and Paddy’s Road to Nowhere, Vera). Dave’s sidekick and ‘friend’ (a talking starfish) is voiced by comedian Gina Yashere (Early Man, Daily Show).
The Spud family also includes the voices of Jane Horrocks (Little Princess, Absolutely Fabulous, Chicken Run), Philip Glenister (Life on Mars, Ashes to Ashes, Mad Dogs) and Arthur Smith (Rex the Runt, Dallas Buyers Club).
Music and Soundtrack:
The newest addition to the production is the signing of Basement Jaxx, coming on board for the music and soundtrack to the series. The electronic duo of Felix Buxton and Simon Ratcliffe will add their unique rhythm and sounds to the comic adventures.
The series follows Dave Spud and the Spud family and friends as they enjoy the ordinary things in life but it’s never long before the world starts to misbehave around Dave.
The Rubbish World of Dave Spud is an Illuminated Film Company production, commissioned for CITV by Paul Mortimer, Director of Digital Channels. It is scheduled for first broadcast in autumn 2019.
